Try and put it into perspective.....
First game.......but fuck me there’s some shit still in that team and he’s got his work cut out.

From that you could say;

Noble and Wilshire is a no go you can’t play them together.

Masuaku not a left back. Absolute shit.

Rice on that showing not a DCM...very poor today getting attracted to the ball leaving spaces behind him.

Anderson, very impressed worked hard as well.

Fabianski looked solid and liked what I saw.

No need to panic as it will take a few games to settle down but all this talk about Europe is very premature.

How long before we can get rid of this dinosaur?

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Liverpool are the best and fastest pressing team in the league...the worst possible side for us to start trying to play pass and move against...no time on the ball, constant threat against, and as has been said they're arguably now the best side in Europe with their acquisitions. They smashed a lot of high class opponents in pre season, and have bought three players in pre season for way more than the record signing that smashed our transfer record.

The last time we had a pattern or play or a style was under Allardyce and that was miserable. I'd argue the last time we played proper football was under Redknapp. Changing that isnt a single pre season's job.

You have to decide if you want us to stick to our guns on this and risk some goings over, or give up at the first hurdle. The midfield isn't so much as speed of legs as it is speed of moving the ball. Milner and Wijnaldum are hardly speed machines but they are well drilled in moving the ball quickly with one touch and the ball moves quicker than any man.

On top of that it's not about speed in closing down but anticipation and awareness that makes you look quick. Biggest criticism of Rice today was him chasing the game and not anticipating the play.

Anyway I think it's gonna take the manager most of this season to get us playing, and we have to stick with it. He's no mug and we have to back him and stay the course. Just have to hope we pick up enough along the way not to become embroiled down the wrong end.

They were miles better in all departments today as they should be. We're at the start of our journey and they're near the end of theirs.

A draw with Bournemouth where we play better and then a win against Wolves would do for me.

Keep the faith...the alternative is a return to Allardyce/Moyes etc.

And I agree the worst player today was Antonio...his man puts the cross in for the first (Robertson) and he pretty much lost the ball every time he got it...and he still looks overweight to me, plus has lost spring in his jump.

Massive shame about today as seemed to be a buzz about the place.

Liverpool are good though (the cunts) so we can’t read to much into it.

We’ll see how we look against Bournemouth and Arsenal as teams we can beat.

Up the hammers

Swindon - no he didn’t. It was a Brendan Rogers team we beat.

If someone had told me Bilic took charge for today’s game I’d not be shocked.
I completely get that Liverpool are levels above but we are so passive. No pressure on the ball, no desire to put them under pressure and then if we do win it back they are too scared to go forward in case we lose it again.

All those saying we were missing a DM, let's see Sanchez before complaining too much.

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Yeah we got beat but I didn't think that we were that bad, the only one who wound me up a bit today was Antonio.

The scousers play on the offside line and are not easy to defend against. The only time Salah was onside for the first was when he put it in the net, Mane was just about level with Firmino miles off for the second and he was offside for the third.

On other occasions the player in the middle was offside until the ball went wide and was played on by the cross being pulled back.

I thought we played some nice stuff at times and there were some promising moments.

I must say though that Klopp is a bit of a cunt with his over the top celebrations and must ask if he got a new set of teeth over the summer?

As for the new tactics though - that will take a while. New players, new manager, new formation. That will take time. They need patience.

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Got to agree with many of the opinions on here:

Antonio - not interested in working for the team, when he arrived he was a one man whirlwind, now he's just a ####

I doubt Noble and Wilshire is viable in same team against most teams in this division.

Masuaku is not a left back.

I'd have Yarmalenko, Obiang and Cresswell in for Antonio, Noble and Masuaku personally.

But whatever team is out next weekend I'll be supporting them. COYI!

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Another thing to put into perspective is that when Klopp arrived at Liverpool it took him a good year before he started seeing the benefits of his changes which have made them one of the top teams in the world today.

He lost 3-0 at home to West Ham for fucks sake!

"it doesn’t mean the beekeeper is shitnoble and Wilshere can’t play together rice is shut or the two new wide boys are shit"

Perhaps you can point out where I have said any of that?

Oh and here comes queen of the spastics...13

I’m pissed we lost and didn’t do better but sometimes you can play a really good team and get played off the park it really is as simple as that...it doesn’t mean the beekeeper is shitnoble and Wilshere can’t play together rice is shut or the two new wide boys are shit

If we were playing Barcelona away and we got turned over 4-0 would you be as critical because I’ll tell you one thing I hate those scouse cunts but they’re probably actually better than Barca at the mo, like I said earlier I saw then do that to city three times last season ...not sure city turned out to be that bad

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Brentford you didn’t even do the miles so stop acting all angry, only those who went really have the right to have a real grievance about the result, your carry on, on here only goes to show you live a charmed life and don’t even recognise that which is sadder than any West Ham defeat.

......Yeh afterall we're only West Ham and every team will lose by at least four goals at Anfield this season.
How dare we expect anything less than a drubbing and be pissed off.

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
was disorganised high line with Noble still cluttering up a static midfield. Expected something a lot different to that sjambles

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Heres some perspective. The scouse scum have not won by so many at Anfield in their first league game since 1932.

We were fucking dogshit. Blah, bla , blah, 1st game of the season, blah, new players

You would hope they would at least be organised, compact and sit deep and not allow the scousers space. No, what wr got

Norflundon's hit the nail on the head.

Can't use playing the mickeys up there as a benchmark for the season.

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
My perspective is that we were shit. Of course you can't use this game to judge how the whole season will pan out, but if we'd played well and won today it would be lavish praise, so why can't we criticize a poor performance?

More questions than answers today. My takeaways would be..

Wilshire and Noble are too slow together.
Arnie is too isolated.
Antonio was a 1 season wonder.
Arthur is a wing back, not a full back.

Start earning your millions grey man..

We won't have harder away games this season save, perhaps, Cittee.

New team, lots to work out, needs to be revisited after the Wolves game

Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Anyone with moist underwear needs to read Norflondon's post on this thread.

Some of the comments today would suggest Liverpool were there for the taking. We and many other teams will get battered at Anfield this season. They are far better than us, deal with it.

theaxeman 7:27 Sun Aug 12
Re: Try and put it into perspective.....
Ok liverpool deserved to win but a goal in the 47th? Minute and a goal 2 yards offside did for us. Arnie missed 2.glorious chances and Antonio on another day could have done better. Needed a break didnt get one and they aint who we're competing against. Think we'll do ok tbf. Worried Noble was treading water would.have taken him off not rice.
